Appointments

Our appointment system is a mix of Face to Face and Remote Consultations. Please let your Care Navigator know your preference on contacting the surgery. We may need to see you face to face if you present with certain problems that we know will require a physical examination.

We have introduced E-consult, an online consultation platform for all non urgent consultations. This is available 24 hours a day on our website and you will receive a response within 2 working days of submitting your request.

Routine appointments are available every day and we request you avoid calling at 8 for anything other than urgent problems. We have a range of methods of contacting us. You can use My Health Online, email us on enquiries.W93046@wales.nhs.uk or submit an E-Consult via our practice website.

We have a rapid access clinic every weekday with appointments being reserved for urgent medical issues. These appointments will be face to face by default but if you prefer a telephone or video consultation, please inform your Care Navigator and we will try to arrange.

The phone lines can be very busy so if you can leave non-urgent calls until later in the morning we will be able to deal with them more quickly.  MONDAYS ARE OUR BUSIEST DAYS.  If your requirement is routine and non-urgent, please telephone on another day.  In order to help triage patients for the doctor appropriately we have trained our Care Navigators to ask you some questions so your patience would be appreciated.

Our Advanced Nurse Practitioner is available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and can see patients with certain conditions and our Pharmacist on Monday. We also have a Diabetic Specialist Nurse, A Psychiatric Wellbeing Practitioner, an Occupational Therapist and access to various other services.  You may be signposted to see them rather than a GP depending upon your symptoms/requirements.  You may also be navigated to a health care professional outside of the practice using agreed care pathways for example to a pharmacist, physiotherapist, optician, dentist , counselling service and social services.

You can request to be seen by a doctor of your choice using our pre-bookable service and these routine appointments can be booked up to 3 weeks in advance. You can choose if you would prefer a telephone or face to face appointment on booking.

DNA (Did Not Attend Policy)

Patients who do not keep their appointment or fail to cancel and inform the practice on 3 occasions will be considered as non co-operative and will be asked to leave the list.

GP Consultations

These will be provided usually at 10 minute intervals.  10 minute Consultations usually can deal with one problem.  It is not possible to deal with a list of problems in 10 minutes.  In order for us to meet the patient charter, you should let the Care Navigator know if you feel you need a longer appointment.

We offer a Chaperone service in the practice; this can be requested at the time of your consultation.

All patients will be seen within 30 minutes of their appointment.  We will endeavour to keep to time. If not, an explanation will be given.

Telephone Consultations

The practice encourages patients to phone for advice when a face to face appointment is not necessary.  If you wish to speak to a doctor, please telephone reception before 11.00 am and book a telephone consultation.
